United Workers Create Strong Businesses

The old world management techniques of the industrial age no longer work to create the kind of dynamic, agile and innovative work environment for 21st century workers.

Financial calculations must be balanced with consideration of the key factors the drive sustainability for long-term success.

Uniting To Create a Stronger Tomorrow

Building a Team Means Building Trust

Take your team on a float trip this Summer.

The Ouachita River begins at the base of Rich Mountain near Mena, Arkansas and makes its way to Lake Ouachita at Highway 27 with about 43 miles of river that can be paddled. Even safe Class I river adventures bring folks together.

Find a river near you that support family float trips.  Oklahoma and Arkansas paddlers use the Oklahoma Road Trips website to find tons of new canoe trips. For more tips on using river trips for team bonding check out this video starring Alan Alda: White Mile.

Does Your Pack Leader Have a Plan?

Become a True Pack Leader. Pack leaders build confidence and strength through tight coordination of groups under a calm and assertive leader.  We could learn a lot about teaming from the lessons animal trainers and animal behavior specialists have developed over the centuries. See Our Long Line of Great Dog Training Videos on DVD.

Pack animals like dogs live in a hierarchal social structure, much like people do.  Understanding the basic instinctive drives of dogs: Prey, Rank, Fight, Flight and Submission helps us understand ourselves better.

Packs Learn Through Playing

Chase games imitate catching and bringing down prey; fight games teach dogs the use of postures and expressions to elicit various responses such as submission or intimidation.

Although many major games have begun dropping Cooperative play options, new games like Guitar Hero and Rock Star are giving a whole new surge of energy to this type of gaming.  Read more on our Cooperative gaming page.

Training Bonds a Pack Together

Failing to train your dogs is not doing them or your family any favors.  Luckily, there is more information available than ever for learning to train all the members of your pack.  Whether you are going to start clicker training, potty training or any other method, a great place to start is our dog training page.

Five Elements of Trust

Building trust is key to success for leaders.

1. Reliability - too often we fail to set expectations well, this costs us trust.

2. Acceptance - folks have to feel valued and respected before they will give their trust.

3. Openness - If I can openly share information and opinions tactfully, I can earn more trust from my team members.

4. Directness - being direct in giving and receiving constructive feedback creates trust over time.

5. Commonality - Look for, recognize and remind others of the characteristics we share. Trust is built on common ground.

Five Traits to Look for in Leaders...
Leaders build bridges rather than barriers.
We always need more leaders.

1. Vision - A leader has a mission to create something, knows his objectives.

2. Social Capital - Any true leader invests in, cultivates and deploys human capital instinctively.

3. Command Presence - A strong leader's bearing commands respectful attention by displaying the qualities of self-assurance, clarity, credibility, and optimism.

4. Insightful Empathy - A leader should understand the competing agendas and viewpoints of his teams, customers, vendors and competitors...not merely take sides.

5. Discipline - Top leaders stick to their principles, while driving toward objectives persistently.
