One of the things that I hate most about exercise
programs is the boredom. Kayaking, Bowling and Dog
Training offer three fun solutions for getting more
physical activity in your life, without the drudgery of
pointless repetition. Real life-changing exercise
requires serious goals-focused effort. In this article,
I will describe four unique ways you can increase your level
of physical activity, while keeping your mind and spirit
engaged.
Kayaking - Tired of the Treamill? Try Chasing Sunsets
Instead!
Paddling a 10-foot kayak for several miles makes the
wind and water your exercise machine. Kayaking offers a
number of pleasures that are not limited to adrenaline
fueled extreme sports. Modern Recreational Kayaks are
stable and easy to paddle without lessons or training.
Bird-watchers, photographers and fishermen are all
discovering that kayaking can add a powerful new tool
for pursuing their art.
Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
studied the physiological effects of kayaking on three
young subjects in 2005. What they found was that in a
two-hour kayaking session, the individuals burned up to
twice as many calories as what is recommended in a day.
"This proves that recreational kayaking is an
acceptable form of physical activity to replace more
traditional forms of exercise," the researchers wrote.

Bowling - Family Fun To Keep your Fit.
Bowling gets me even more worn out than kayaking and
offers an alternative sport
when conditions do not favor paddling. Dianne and I like
to get in about six games
per day of bowling, since we can only get away once or
twice a week.
Bowling three games and using two balls per frame, will
produce the equivalent
exercise of a one mile walk! For every hour of bowling,
you can burn 150 to 250
calories depending on how much you weigh, the more you
weigh... the greater the
burn. The bowling workout helps you to lower body fat,
it also helps you to increase
muscle tissue, reduce risk of heart disease and improve
blood flow...just stay away
from the Cheese Fries.

Dog Walking & Dog Training
Lack of exercise leads to poor muscle tone, obesity,
heart ailments, bone disorders and often results in
emotional problems and behavior quirks. This is equally
true for BOTH you and your dogs. Any expert will agree
that the best exercise channels the
activity of both the mind and the body.
Throwing a tennis ball or other toy (try a kong) for the
your dog to fetch is fun for both of you. Also, you can
workout your bowling muscles by throwing underhand
following a short three or four-step approach.
Bicycling, roller-blading, running mazes and agility
training all offer fun ways to get you dog and yourself
into better physical condition.
Get Fit the Samurai Way!
Get yourself in shape by practicing the ancient art
of the sword AKA Kendo. A
boken, or Practice Sword, is constructed to
replicate the look and feel of a Japanese katana.
In
the instructional DVD:
Forza The Samurai Sword Workout, top New York
trainer Ilaria Montagnani transforms ancient Japanese
sword fighting techniques from kendo and aikijujitsu
into a supercharged fitness program using the bokken.
Recommended for anyone with an interest in martial arts,
swords, or simply firming up their arms and shoulders.
