Our Rescued Dog Garfunkel - We think he is a schipperkeThis is our dog Garfunkel, the Tulsa SPCA introduced us to him with a resume.  Garfunkel is a ball-chasing expert and has become a valued member of our pack.  I'm glad we chose Garfunkel and I'm glad we chose a shelter dog.

Puppy mills are a secret shame across all of Oklahoma. Sadly, the number of licensed high volume puppy breeders in Oklahoma has increased drastically and the number of unlicensed breeders is estimated to be in the thousands.

Garfunkel is a Schipperke breed of dog.  The Schipperke is related to the Spitz line of dogs like Chows and Akitas.  It is unlikely that my wife or I would have chosen his particular breed.  However, getting a rescue dog often means not picking the breed.  We simply asked for a dog with some skills. Now, we are fans of this delightfully intelligent breed of dogs.

Despite the shameful choices of some, other Oklahoma dog owners are working toward a humane future for Man's Best Friend in the Sooner State. You can do your part by adopting a shelter dog rather than buying pets at pet stores.

In fact, if you are interested in adopting a new best friend, we are currently fostering a Red Heeler and her eight Lab/Heeler mix puppies. We don't sell puppies. We hope to give these puppies away to some local folks looking for a small framed dog to raise up right.

Oklahoma Dogs Need Homes

There are seven states that are known as puppymill states because they have the majority of the puppymills in the country. They are: Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. If 'We the People' of the United States of America refused to buy a puppies in pet-stores, the misery of puppy mills would end.

There are so many puppies born in Oklahoma every year, that no one really needs to buy a dog

We are fostering a Red Heeler that has just had eight adorable puppies. We need to find good homes for these free puppies.

If you live in eastern Oklahoma and are interested in adopting one of our these sweet puppies, email Thomas Jones.

The puppies will all be given away free. We took them to the vet last week to get their shots and wormer.

So email me today and get your family a new best friend! Click here to see a picture of each of our eight puppies!

Dog Training Makes You and Your Puppy Happier

New puppies need extra effort in training.  Don't stop after teaching them: come, stay, sit and NO.  Teaching your puppy tricks is a big part of the fun of dog ownership.  Your puppy and you will be happier with a lifetime of training.
